Using a zigzag stitch for elastic.
They are many was to use a zigzag for making an elastic gather. Here we cover one of the basic ones.
 
 
1. Use cutting guide to cut the correct length of elastic.
2. Pin elastic ends to booth edges of sock or stocking.
3. Pin the middle of the elastic to the middle of the top edge.
4. Place under foot on sewing machine with elastic side up
5. Stitch 2 stitches then put machine in reverse and stitch backward for 2 stitches to keep seam from coming lose.
6. Stretch elastic unto fabric is flat.
7. Keep elastic stretched and sew a zigzag seam all the way to the end.
8. put machine in reverse and stitch backward for 2 stitches to keep seam
