Using a zigzag stitch to stop unraveling.

Almost all new home sewing machines have a zigzag stitch. This stitch moves back and forth as you sew. Which is how it gets its name. (Most things in sewing are named for what they do) Normally a zigzagged line marks the setting. Often beside a setting for the zigzag width.

There are often more than one style of zigzag type stitch on a sewing machine. We will stick to the basic one for this book.

To stop unraveling with a zigzag just sew around the edge. The needle will make the first part of the stitch by punching throw the fabric on your left. Then the needle will come up and move to the right. For the 2nd part of the stitch. Watch the needle. Make sure that it doesn’t touch the fabric at all as it makes the right the right part of the stitch, now just repeat this all the way around the lolita headband as seen above.
