Scissors

I know it may sound stupid, as a lot of things in sewing sound, but a good
pair of scissors will make cutting patterns easier and smoother. You may be
tempted to buy the one-dollar scissors, thinking they will do the same job
at a cheaper price.

The truth is that they do not do the same job. Cheap scissors work ok on
paper or thin cardboard, but cloth is a different story. Cloth is not stiff
like paper, and will tend to flex, wrinkle and fold as it is cut. Also,
threading a needle is so much easier when the thread is cut clean with a
good pair of scissors.

So, a nice pair of scissors made for cloth are a must-have for sewing.

A good pair of scissors can be bought for as little as six dollars and can
last for years. I have six-dollar scissors that I bought in 1998 that I'm
still using today.
